Tynecastle finally secured their first three points of this season's League campaign with a convincing victory over the students of Heriot Watt.

Heriot-Watt University suffered early against Tynecastle after they conceded a goal in the 15th minute when Paul Devlin scored and then their own player, Ronnie Napier, was given two yellow cards for dissent in the space of 30 seconds and subsequently sent off. Wayne McIntosh secured the points for Tynecastle midway during the second half with a header from an Eddie Mearns cross. Late in the game Dean Knight of Tynecastle also received a red card as both teams went down to 10 men for the final 8 minutes of play.
